“‘delta-blues wall of sound’”

2011 ARIA Blues and Roots nominees and I-Tunes Australian Blues and Roots album of the year winners, Backsliders, have been playing, touring the festival circuit and recording for 30 years. To celebrate this milestone, we are bringing this iconic Australian Blues group to the Blues for the Bush in 2016.

The Backsliders, leaders and virtual pioneers in their own genre - 'Delta Blues Wall of Sound', consist of Slide Guitarist, multi-stringed instrumentalist, songwriter and vocalist Dom Turner and Drum and percussion virtuoso and songwriter Rob Hirst (Midnight Oil).

These guys are  renowned for captivating live shows an eclectic mix of blues tyles moving from riving delta blues riffs and jungle‐like rhythms to ‘Piedmont’ blues influenced ‘all‐acoustic’ unplugged treatments of 1920’s songs by blues heroes such as Mississippi Fred McDowell and Robert Johnson.

‘without a dispute the best blues band in Australia. Their material is impeccable and their musicianship is a wonder to behold’ - Sydney Morning Herald

‘taking the sounds and smells of the delta blues and giving it an Australian taste’ ..‘contemporary roots music at its best’ - Drum Media 2002
